出生于1944年7月23日的葡萄牙女钢琴家玛利亚·若昂·皮雷斯（Maria João Pires）刚刚度过她的76岁生日。

1999年，在荷兰阿姆斯特丹皇家大会堂，当里卡多·夏伊（Riccardo Chailly）指挥乐团开始了《莫扎特第20号钢琴协奏曲》的演出，Pires傻住了，因为她预先看到的节目单是演出第23号，谁料她拿到的是错误的节目单。
很快，Pires调整好情绪，镇定下来，凭借记忆完成了演奏。这段录像在2013年被媒体曝光，并迅速走红。

2018年，Pires停止公演，正式退休。
