Additional information: Shachidevi dasi (Shashika Murutah) was born in South Africa, in a family whose ancestors came from India in the 19th century. She is well known for her bhajans and deep kirtans. Being inclined to spiritual searches from an early age, she first debuted at the age of seven at the festival of celebrating krishna's "birthday". After that, she participated in many charity concerts in South Africa, receiving many blessings from religious organizations for her selfless contribution to the teachings of Sanatana dharma. In 1976, South Africa was visited by the famous Indian singer and musician Sri Kishori Kumarji, and he invited her to join his team. She also performed with Mahendra Kapoor. After joint performances with these musicians, her desire to visit India and become a singer increased even more. It was fulfilled in 1987, when she settled in Mumbai (India).Possessing a singing talent, she soon realized her destiny - to use her voice to spread the message of God around the world. She met her spiritual teacher His Holiness Shacinandana Swami in 1997, and received an initiation from him into the Vaishnava tradition. He also gave her the beautiful name Shachidevi Dasi and the instruction to "Always sing for Krishna." This instruction, along with another of his instructions – to travel as much as possible and bring many souls to Krishna through his songs – penetrated deeply into her heart.Having received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Africa, in 1995 at the International Conference of Hinduism Shashika Muruth was also awarded for special merits in the development of traditional Indian sacred music. Now she travels around the world, sings and conducts seminars on Vedic philosophy. Among her many successful albums are "Swagatam Krishna", "Sweet Chant", as well as her most recent album "Gopala".On the commercial music scene, she also provides her voice to Indian film production, advertising, etc., not counting concerts with songs from films around the world.
