Bnois King (born January 21, 1943) is a Texas blues and jazz guitarist, vocalist and composer. He most often played guitar and rhythm guitar and acted as the lead vocalist and songwriter for Smokin' Joe Kubek Band. Kubek and King met in 1989 as well-played and experienced musicians. Together they created a duo that represents one of the best ensembles playing electric Texas blues. The secret of his success is apparently that both musicians successfully complement each other. Smokin' Joe Kubek is power, heavy guitar sound and indomitable energy. The black vocalist of the duo Bnois King is 15 years older than Joe. Bnois brought to the gang an excellent guitar playing technique, memorable vocals and a rare taste in Texas blues for long improvisations of a jazz kind. Sadly, Smokin' Joe Kubek passed away on October 11, 2015, without suffering a heart attack shortly before he was scheduled to take the stage at the Wilmington, North Carolina Festival. He was 58 years old, the duo ceased to exist.
