In general, in 1983, the Japanese released alla Pugacheva's album on the giant disc, releasing a single as well. In 1988, when the CD Audio format was already starting to gain strength, this release appeared.
Despite the fact that many of Alla Pugacheva's songs were released on CD in 1996 after a careful restoration, this disc has significant differences. Firstly, this recording was made from the original studio magnetic tapes of the All-Union Recording Studio "Melodiya" (from the same ones that were used in the production of records). This already suggests that there is no question of any restoration and remastering here - these technologies were simply not used in 1988. A picky listener can easily hear the noise of the tape, in some songs it is heard especially clearly).
The second big plus of this disc is that some songs on CD were never released again:
1. Million Roses (single version) (track No. 1)
This is exactly the version that was published in the USSR on compilation records, the minion "Million Roses" and was included in the Bulgarian LP "Million Roses". A feature of this version is the fact that at the end of the song the chorus is repeated 2 times, after which there is a fade-out (in the Collection on disc No. 1, track No. 13 of the chorus is repeated 3 times).
2. Full version (track #5)
Full version of the song, previously released only on LP compilations. The version presented in the Collection disc #2 is almost a minute shorter (early fade-out).
3. Tightrope Walker (single version) (track #7)
Never released on CD again. Prior to that, it was released as a B-side single "Gypsy Choir", and was also included in the LP "Million Roses" and LP-compilations.
4. That's how it happened, Mama (live) (track #8)
Never released on CD again. Prior to that, she was included in the album "How Disturbing This Way Is", Disc 2, Track 2.
5. When I'm Grandma (live) (track #9)
Never released on CD again. Prior to that, she was included in the album "How Disturbing This Way Is", disc 2, track 4.
A little about the sound quality:
1. As mentioned above, in some songs you can clearly hear the noise of the magnetic tape. This can easily be explained by the imperfection of the noise reduction systems that existed at that time (the disc was released in 1988, but the recordings themselves were made much earlier, in 1981 - 1983). In addition, these records did not go through the stages of cleaning, restoration, and so on (this appeared a little later, in the 90s).
2. In everything else, the recording quality is excellent, it is easy to notice by looking at the spectrograms. And although it can be seen that after 20,000 the frequency level decreases markedly, this is not terrible - this is just a sign of the use of magnetic phonograms, which are not ideal initially.
